Welcome to Mid Week Tease, where authors share snippets from a new release, backlist title or a current work in process.
This week, my teaser excerpt comes from Up All Night, the second book in my Brighton Heat series.
Following a cruel betrayal, the last thing Beth Devlin needs is a man with sinful good looks and a reputation for love-them-and-leave-them-gasping affairs with women. But unable to resist his determined pursuit, Beth soon discovers that no-holds-barred sex with a master of the genre is the perfect remedy for her flagging confidence and painful past.
Marco Zutini has learned to separate emotion from sex. With affairs that last no longer than a month, he can move on before things get complicated. But while he is more than happy to tutor Beth in the ways of carnal pleasure, there is one small problem—she fires up much more than his libido.
Soon Marco is questioning the wisdom of his one-month-only rule, until a revelation from his past reopens Beth’s emotional wounds and puts any chance of a future in jeopardy.
“You have a vibrator?” Marco lay on his back in Beth’s bed a couple of nights later and stared at her as if she’d grown two heads.
“Don’t know why you’re so surprised. Most women do.” She laughed when he continued to stare at her. “Not that I’ve felt the need to use it since meeting you.”
That seemed to please him, since he glanced over at the drawer she’d indicated while making her confession. “You have any other surprises in there?”
“Can’t think of any. Why?”
“Thought you might need lube. For the dick substitute.”
“Dick substitute?” She rolled her eyes. “Honestly, men can’t let themselves believe that a woman might just want a sexual release. They have to think she really only needs what a man can give her.”
He stretched and folded his arms behind his head. “Whatever way you want to look at it, it’s a dick substitute. And you haven’t answered my question.”
“Yes. I have lubricant.” Beth narrowed her eyes as Marco grinned. “What did you have in mind?”
